What is the point of living a healthy lifestyle besides living longer?

By live healthy · Thursday, January 8th, 2009
We recently received an email with the following question in it:
How much time does eathing fastfood/smoking occasionally drinking really take away from my life? How long does the “healthy” person really live? Maybe they live to 90 and me drinking/smoking/eating fastfood only will reach my 70´s. It is not like healthy people live to 200 or something. What is the real incentive for living a healthy lifestyle as it obviously isn´t longevity?

It helps to keep you regular. When you have distress using the toilet, you end up feeling poor, don’t you? Fiber, Omega 3, Probiotics, fresh fruits and veggies will certainly make it simpler for you concerning this and other things. Feel like your energy is drained? Maybe you should stop eating stuff like burgers or potato fries, as they don´t contain a lot of stuff that makes your body fit. Your digestion system needs energy to digest the things you place in. If you eat lots of veggies, fruits and fiber, your body will take more energy out of it than it place in previously. But, if you end up eating quick food, then your body will lose energy on digesting this in the long run. That will make you stout, hideous and tired, which can lead to depression, social problems etc. not to forget diseases like stroke, choloesterol and heart attack. You see, there are a lot more things you can take from living a healthier lifestyle than just living 20 years longer.

Brilliant post, couldn´t have answered that better. Excellent stuff!

well taking care of yourself in the long run it cuts down on heart diease, strokes, diabetic. losing your eye sight. or losing your arm or leg. o yes, if you stop drinking you can see life. if not then your doom to lose your life and not see what is going on around you. you have to choose if you are going to live or not.

Well, i could not agree more. For me and you it can add or subtract a few years but for others those extra years make a huge difference. I guess most people are simply in a state of denail regarding death. people know their day will come but always reckon it is some time in the distant future.

I would say live a excellent life for 60-70 years that is full of fun instead of an extended dull life.

I guess it would mean the difference between feeling excellent physically everyday or feeling like crap everyday until you die. Which would you prefer? You could feel like crap for the next 50 years or you could feel excellent. No one knows for sure what will happen but you sure shorten the odds of feeling crappy if you take care of yourself.

living longer & feeling better

Well,if you live a healthy lifestyle and
you do live longer because of living a healthy lifestyle reckon of how much longer you will have to help other people in this world such as poverished children and low income women and seniors and disabled people. That is why it is vital to keep yourself healthy not only for
just “Yourself” but for to help other people as well.

I started living the “healthy life style” 8 years age. You may find it hard to believe roasted veggies taste better then anything sold at quick food. A nice glass or two of wine at dinner is fantastic. At 63 I can do 30 push ups and 30 sit ups without breaking a swet. While others are buying Viagra at $10 a pill, I wonder why.

When I was 30 I smoked and occasionally drank too much. That was probably OK. When you get in you 40’s start cutting back and delight in the finer things of life. Excellent Luck.
